The first, and maybe the most important tip of this list of tips for Awakenings: think of what you bring to the festival. What should I take to the festival? Am I forgetting something? You know the feeling of insecurity at this moment. You want to bring a bunch of stuff, but not too much. We made an Awakenings packing list to help you. Easy!

Be prepared for all kind of weather conditions, the weather in the Netherlands is not always what you would expect. The festival takes place in Hilvarenbeek where you can find the shade of the trees to cool down or where you go to the open areas to soak up the sun. The weather has been very different for the past few years: very hot or cold and wet. So make sure you have an idea of what you can expect of the weather, this way you know what to wear and you can decide if you should wear those new white sneakers ;).

The festival area is huge. Don’t move from one stage to another too much, because you will end up seeing nothing. Plan for yourself which artists you would like to see. This way you don’t walk around too much while you miss most of the acts.

Awakenings Festival has over 80,000 visitors each weekend. Because of the big crowds, it can become a huge challenge to get to the front of the crowd and see your favourite artist. Which is why you should walk forward along the sides of the crowd. This is a lot easier than trying to walk to the front in the middle of thousands of dancing people. This way you can get to the front faster and easier. Win-win!

Sometimes you need a break from dancing, understandable! The festival has enough places for you to relax and regain some energy. Lay on the grass next to the water while you enjoy the music from a distance, or relax in a hammock while you smell the scent of your favourite festival snack near the foodtrucks. When it’s too hot to stay in the sun, you can cool down in the shade of the trees. Enough options!

Do you not have enough money but do you really want to go to Awakenings? No worries, we have the golden tip! At a festival like Awakenings, the organisation is always looking for people who want to help. Work a few hours at Awakenings and enjoy the rest of the festival for free!

Before you go partying, make sure you have a plan for your trip back home. If you are going to an after party, where are you going to do this? If you are going home, how are you going home? The last thing you want is paying too much for a taxi because the last train has already left.

The festival ends at 23:00. Are you still in the mood to dance? No worries! Awakenings organises the best after parties on Saturday and Sunday. Make sure you are on time because these parties are very popular!

Extra tip: Don’t rush to the lockers at the end of the festival, because it will be very crowded and you don’t want to lose your friends just before you head to an after party. The bars near the exit are opened until half an hour after the festival has ended, so end your festival day well with a drink!
