#1. Always handy at Awakenings
Your chewing gum, cigarettes and lighter, it all has to be carried, but how?
1. The fannypack
Men can’t escape it either: a bag in which you keep your essentials. Because in addition to lipstick and mascara, chewing gum and your sunglasses are handy to have with you at Awakenings. Make sure you have a bag of which your stuff doesn’t fall out and one that you constantly have an eye on. A fannypack is fashionable for both men and women and especially for a party like Awakenings, where you dance a lot and it’s very crowded. Moreover, the fannypack is almost pickpocket-proof and your phone doesn’t fall into the dixi when you pull down your pants. Keeping your phone in your back pocket is not the best idea anyway 😉
2. Cigarettes
This makes you extra mortal but you also make yourself immortal if you bring enough cigarettes! It is of course nice if you have some cigarettes left towards the end of the day and maybe your brand isn’t available at Awakenings.
3. Protection for your ears
The music is important, but your ears even more! The music at Awakenings is loud and especially if you like to be at the front when your favourite artist is playing, earplugs will prevent a lifetime beep in your ears. It also ensures an undisturbed powernap in the bus on the outward or return journey!
4. Something to eat
It’s good to always have something to eat or drink with you. This is not allowed at the festival itself, but on the outward and return journey it’s convenient to have something to eat. Especially on the way to the festival it is useful to have a good meal. Think of a bottle of water or a banana to get some energy. Did you forget to bring something? No worries, at Awakenings there is plenty of choice of (vegetarian) food trucks!
5. Clothing
The summer has finally started so you don’t want to think of wearing many clothes, but don’t forget that it cools down in the evening and you’re still going home by bus. You can get cold quickly when you’re tired, especially if you are a bit burned by the sun! With a nice sweater you make sure you don’t get cold.
6. Cash
Cash is always handy, because you can lose your bank card and you won’t find it back among thousands of techno fans. But always take your bank card with you because many festivals are cashless these days. Check this in advance on the website of Awakenings.
#2. Papers please!
Yes! You’ve arrived at Awakenings, the party can start! However, you still have to pass the gates. It’s crowdy, a lot of techno lovers want to go inside. Finally it’s your turn but where are your tickets? Hurry up and look for the email with your ticket you got months ago, stress!
Not a good start of your festival. Arrange essential paperwork on time and put it on your Awakenings packing list.
1. Bus ticket
Maximal Trips arranges your bus trip to Awakenings. Make sure you bring your ticket and don’t miss the bus!
2. Festival ticket(s)
You certainly won’t be the first to forget this. TIP: Print your tickets. A good plan B is essential, because your phone can run out of batteries, the local internet could not work in Hilvarenbeek, or you just can’t find them anywhere.
3. Passport/ID
Legitimation is also of great essence. You don’t want the guard to refuse you because you don’t have your ID! TIP: Keep your ID in your locker at the festival so you can’t lose it! There are many more tips for Awakenings.
#3. Also important on the Awakenings checklist
Your favourite gadgets will give you endless fun. You’re sure to be popular with your friends if you’re ahead of the game when you put a few essential items on your Awakenings checklist.
1. Powerbank
You can stay online with a powerbank. Awakenings is huge, so if you are offline the search for your friends can take hours. TIP: arrange a powerbank which you can charge in the sun (even when it’s cloudy).
2. The classic disposable camera
Once upo a time you didn’t take a lot of group photos but only one. Use the disposable camera to select 24 moments during the festival that you absolutely want to capture. You only have one chance each time. 5 days after returning home you can pick up your photos at the photo store and have the ultimate re-experience, super fun!
3. The fan
The festival area of Awakenings is a large open field and when it’s sunny and 30 degrees you will sweat a lot, even in the covered tents. Make sure you always have a fan with you. It cools you down and is easy to take with you. Did you forget your fan? Awakenings itself often sells fans, so you can get yourself a nice souvenir!
We are fans of these fans!
#4. There you are in your stiletto's...
A festival is the perfect time to show off your new outfit, but also think practical! Sounds boring, but after a day of festival rain you want to wear that nice sweater and comfortable shoes will also be very nice.
1. A poncho
So simple, but so important. An invention that helped many a dancing festival-goer to avoid wet clothes! If it starts raining you have the possibility to stay dry, because people who don’t have a poncho will go to the covered stages but that’s not big enough for everyone.
2. Cap
A cap is also of great essence at Awakenings and is therefore put on the Awakenings checklist. It protects you from the sun, rain or bad-hair days. Add a pair of sunglasses and no one will recognize you. And nobody will know that you had already started partying last night.
3. Good shoes
You’ll be walking around the large festival site of Awakenings for hours. It’s better not do that on stiletto heels but on sneakers. Or be stubborn and go for your fashionable with your new Dr Martens of which you secretly already know that you will get blisters. Pretty hurts…Â TIP: Are you going to both days of Awakenings? Then put other shoes on the second day. Your feet will thank you!
