It starts with the location: the Obudai Island in Budapest, Hungary. Probably never heard of it, but that doesn’t matter. You read that right: this party is celebrated on an island. And that says a lot: as is often the case with islands, cosiness is the trump card here. If you look closely you can see bustling Budapest from your tent.

Not that it’s small: 1500 x 600 meters. But on this biotope you can pitch your tent for about 7 days, go crazy with acts of stature, swim in the Danube, let yourself be launched into the air on a piece of rubber and see 100 colors at the annual color festival party.

Funfact of the Sziget campsite: there is no camping. At least, not such a Western European freaked out version with gates, numbers and lots of rules. Expect trucks that suddenly stand next to your tent for loading or unloading. Or happy festival-goers when you put your tent next to Mainstage. It is possible, because as said: no rules on Sziget. Pitch your tent anywhere you want: doesn’t that sound too good to be true?

Bring hammocks and build your own mini campsite in the trees (hammock-sex is dangerous and we don’t recommend it). The best thing about the Sziget camping: the shade. You will really enjoy being out of the burning sun for some time.

When you drink your beers at Sziget you almost get the feeling that you get money for it in return: drinks are usually cheap. But you better watch out, because drinking here quickly becomes boozing, and you have a whole week to go here. Also try cocktails and typical Hungarian drinks like Palinka or Unicum. Last but not least: the cocktail bucket. Tasty and you’ll definitively make new friends with it.
